44) Building investigation - April 9, 2001
Walt Landgraf and Fred Warner take a close look at certain features of the Squires Tavern building, especially the basement, crawl space and attic in an effort to determine the age and construction of the main house and ell. It appears that the main part of the house was built first, then the ell to the south, then the ell to the east. There is some evidence that another back ell may have existed at one point, and possibly some future archaeology work may determine settle this.
